  • originally buried on the battlefield near Le Rutoire Farm at 36c.G17a.4.8½. His body was exhumed in October 1919 (from G17b.5.4, identified by graves registration cross) and moved to Plot V, Row D, Grave 7 in Dud Corner Military Cemetery at Loos, Pas-de-Calais, France. Gravestone: “Lieutenant L.H. Berlein, Royal Berkshire Regiment, 25th September 1915, Age 22” - personal inscription: “The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God” CWGC
  • Berkhamsted Civic Memorial (one of 185 names)

  • Berkhamsted School Chapel (one of 230 names)

  • St Peter’s Church Berkhamsted (one of 144 names)

  • Inns of Court, New Square, London (one of 101 names)

  • Charterhouse School Memorial Chapel (one of 689 names) (also a roll of honour book with ornately inscribed names in a glass case in the chapel)

  • in Hodgsonites House at Charterhouse School (one of 72 Names)

  • Branksome School memorial in the Church of St Peter & St Paul, Godalming, Surrey (one of 34 names)

  • Magdalene College Chapel, Cambridge (one of 65 names)

  • A wooden cross marked with his name was found in a church in South Africa in the 1990s and installed at the bottom of his nephew's garden looking out over the valley alongside that of his brother. The harshness of the environment meant that it disintegrated over time and now is no more.
